Sadaqah should be a part of our Legacy. One of the wonderful ways you can help the Masjid is by remembering it in your will. Having a will is an important Islamic duty, which many people overlook. The Prophet (pbuh) stated,“It is the duty of a Muslim who has anything to bequeath not to let two nights pass without writing a will.” [Sahih al-Bukhari]
When you die you want to ensure those who are left behind know your wishes, and that your Islamic duties are fulfilled. This should include taking care of funeral expenses and leaving inheritance for family members according to the guidance in the Qur’an & Sunnah.
You can also leave something to charity (sadaqah). A person could consider leaving a gift to help the Masjid after they have passed, a gift that will surely multiply in goodness.
If you don’t have a will, you should consider making one as soon as possible. If you already have a will, and would like to include a gift for the West London Islamic Centre, you could simply add a codicil.
You can get independent advice about writing a will that complies with the Qur’an and is legally valid under English Law from Sr Zubaida Mohamed at Legacies, contact her on firstname.lastname@example.org.
